During a turkey hunting trip, my grandpa surprised me with plans to visit Bussey Brake later that week. I was thrilled to finally fish a place I had only seen and heard about. Within just a few hours on the water, I hooked a giant—the biggest bass I had ever seen in person at the time. It weighed over 8 pounds and measured 25 1/2 inches long, caught during the post-spawn phase.
